Rebecca Butterworth

After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design, I got a bit sidetracked and decided to try my hand at make up instead.

While working for MAC Cosmetics, I learnt my craft on a myriad of faces and eventually worked my way into the training department, managing and facilitating classroom and shop floor training for the fast growing company.
This role also gave me the opportunity to work backstage at various global fashion weeks and soon enough I took a side step into the Senior Artistry team, giving me more scope for my creative make up skills in an industry setting.

After almost 17 years at MAC Cosmetics, I made a move into the world of special effects and prosthetics and took up a role as Director of Make Up for Millennium FX, one of the UK’s leading SFX companies. My TV and film credits include Doctor Who, Luther, Betaal, Bharat, Year Of The Rabbit, Curfew, Code 404 and The Witcher.

I also like to indulge my history nerdiness by creating videos exploring the history of make up. It’s a chance for me to research and tell the intimate stories of historical characters that don’t often appear in mainstream history.

I’d be delighted work with you on beauty, fashion or SFX shoots or perhaps I could design a bespoke talk on an element of historical make up for your educational institute?
